The Korowai people of southeastern Papua, Indonesia, are primarily known for constructing high treehouses and their historically isolated hunter-gatherer lifestyle. 

Protection from Spirits: The Korowai hold strong spiritual beliefs that malevolent ghosts and evil spirits roam the dark forest ground, so living higher up keeps the family further away from these unseen dangers. 

• Safety from Floods and Insects: High elevated positions keep homes safe from sudden heavy tropical rain floods and reduce exposure to swarms of malaria-carrying mosquitoes. 

• Defense from Wildlife:
  Treetop living helps them stay safe from hungry or aggressive wild animals wandering the jungle floor, such as wild boars and venomous snakes.

•  Tribal Protection and Warfare: Historically, building high off the ground offered a major military advantage, making it difficult for rival clans to attack, launch arrows, or climb up without being pushed off the ladders. 

• Strategic Visibility: The extreme height allows the tribe to spot approaching visitors, intruders, or rival groups from far away through the dense canopy

Korowai  always moves from one place to another in order to be close to the foods and hunted animals provides by nature. Traditional wear of Korowai is very simple, men wear a piece of leave or a small penis gourd to cover their penis and women wear the skirt made of woven sago leafs.
