Papua is one of the few places in the world where you can easily swim with whale sharks! In a very remote area of Nabire. Whale Sharks is considered a wild animal, which presence is not under human control. The best time to see whale sharks is when it is New Moon, should also inform you that on certain seasons or times, we can’t predict when the whale sharks will be there or not, it is not in our control. But when it is Full Moon it is to be sure that we can’t guarantee you will see whale sharks. All time of the year is a good time to see whale sharks as long as it is not Full Moon, when it is Full Moon we can’t guarantee you will see whale sharks in Nabire. The best time to see whale sharks would be when the Moon is Dark or New Moon or as long as it is not a Full Moon. We suggest you arrive in Nabire before 11.00 am so we can then transfer you from Nabire Airport straight to the Resort (about 1,5 hours by speedboat).

Important information

• Best time: The new moon phase and the months of May to October are optimal for whale shark sightings. When the Moon is Dark or New Moon or as long as it is not a Full Moon. 

• Respect the Animals: It's crucial to follow guidelines to minimize disturbance to the whale sharks, such as maintaining a safe distance, avoiding flash photography, and not using underwater scooter

• Recommended to be arrive in Nabire before 11.00 am so we can then transfer you from Nabire Airport straight to  Kwatisore.

3 Days - 2 Nights Snorkeling With Whale Sharks

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Nabire Arrival – Kali Lemon – Playing With Whale Sharks  (-/L/D)

Arrive in the morning at Nabire Airport before 11:00, proceed by car to the small port of Nabire and then by motorized canoe or speedboat in approx 2 - 3 hours to the Kwatisore Village. Lunch in box is provided.  Arrived at the village for reporting the Permit (travel Permit) to Conservation Area to head of village. If we are still on time, you can have your first encounter with the whale sharks today. A local speedboat will take you to the fishing platforms where the whale sharks come to feed the rejected fish. You will stay in Kali Lemon, which offer basic accommodation on a private beach. Dinner will be provided

Day 02:  Playing With Whale Sharks – Return To Nabire (B/L/-)

Simple breakfast will be provided in the local guest house, by motorized canoe to reach the Fisherman platforms (Bagan) continue to snorkeling down with some whale Shark, may be3-6 whale Sharks are exist or may be more, or depend on local situation, the weather. Lunch in box will be provided.  After lunch, if time is still available we will take you into the forest on foot for 25 minutes to see the bird of paradise. Back to Nabire main city by motorized canoe in approx 2 - 3 hours. Transfer to Nusantara Hotel, check-in and dinner will be on your own account.

Day 03:  Nabire – Next Desination  (B/-/-)

Early morning with or without breakfast, transfer to airport by car for your flight schedule to Jayapura or other destination by regular flight Wings Air. Arrive in Jayapura, continue your flight to the next destination. End of service.
